WANBO City Nature Challenge Update
Over 400 cities around the globe participated to document nature in the City Nature Challenge, held from 30 April to 3 May, 2021. In Hong Kong, we had 1,081 observers and a whopping 4,179 species found, with Cape Town, South Africa and a few more countries just edging us.

Alexandra Lai, a Wanbo team member said “It is truly amazing how students in Hong Kong are capable of achieving such high standards, within such a short period of time. An enormous congratulations to every individual in Island School for stepping up and taking the challenge— what you have done may not seem like a big deal from your perspective, but to another, it is a life-changer.”
We would also like to give a massive congratulations to Kyle Phua (10R), Sophie Low and Vivian Gu (both from 8R) for their notable mentions in the Island School Biodiversity Challenge.
Mr Loggie presented the awardees the gifts from WWF for all the observations they have recorded.
Wanbo Leader Hannah Wu (10D) says, “Congratulations to all the students who participated in this challenge! I hope more students were able to learn about the species they saw and took photos of, as well as learn more about the effect of biodiversity.”
