Island School Wins ESF Spanish Speech Festival
Island School has won the Annual ESF Spanish Speech Festival held at KGV school on the 21 June 2019. This is the second time Island School has won the event since it started six years ago. South Island School came second and KGV came third.
Mr Ian Hunter, Head of Spanish said, “All the students did themselves proud, but the Year 8 students surpassed themselves by winning every category they were entered for.”
Lauren Stanion (8N) took first place in the junior competition, a category open to students in Year 7-9. Jack Berry (8F) came first in the individual competition, a category open to all year groups. Hannah Lee (8R) and Louis Ip (8W) won the pairs category following on from Louis’s win last year in the junior competition. These students won a certificate and a Spanish notebook.
Other competitors were Sia Sheth (12F) in the senior competition for students in Years 10-13, and the Year 9 Spanish class who competed together in the group competition: Labiba Samrin Monami (9D), Siddhesh Kumar (9D), Jake Douglas (9E), Charlotte Wong, (9E), Chelsea Air (9F), Om Loke (9F), Chanan Ng (9F) and Dodi Hague (9W).”
