Volunteering on Valentine’s Day: Einstein House’s Charity Week
Einsteiners held bake sales, a dress purple day and a Valentine’s Day delivery to raise money during their Charity Week, 11-15 Feb, 2019.
“I helped out with organising the Valentine’s Day Delivery and the bake sale,” said 10E Charity Rep Meher. “It was all a team effort. I found it fun but challenging. It gave me organisational experience.”
Money raised is donated to Katja House a home for children in Nepal which Island School has been supporting since it open 21 years ago.
Mr. Ross Burrough, Senior Head of House of Einstein explained, “The week is not just about raising money, but a coming together of students across the Year groups within Einstein and working collectively for a cause. It was fantastic to see Year 9 and 11s working so hard to make the bake sale a huge success. They brought in such a large amount of baked goods that we had to run the bake sale over two days to sell it all!”
“The Year 9 students also set up a very creative basketball activity that also drew the crowds.”
“The highlight of the week was the Valentines delivery day, with roses, chocolates and balloons being distributed throughout the school and putting smiles on other students faces wherever they went!”
“We are now all looking forward to the finale, the Einstein Extravaganza that will showcase all sorts of musical talent from the House.”
