Students Awarded $5000 for Food Waste Initiative

At the Science Museum students pitched their ideas to combat food waste in school to top executives, winning the top prize of HK$5000 on 27 October 2018.

They were up against 12 other schools taking part in The Nature Works* Programme an initiative by think-tank Nature Conservancy that challenges students to work on a school environmental initiative.

The students presented their ideas to environmental executives and NGOs to gain funding for their ongoing school food waste project.

The students worked with internationally renowned educators from Seeds Training, scientists from The Nature Conservancy and they were mentored by business professionals from Goldman Sachs and Bloomberg.

The Island School team comprised of a mixture of Year 11 to 13 students including: Jaimie Lau, Jaime Lam, Katya Foong, Crescent Choi, Tiffany Luk and Gobind Thind.
