Two Golds and a Bronze at Spanish Speaking Competition
At the Spanish Speaking Competition 2018, hosted by West Island School on the 26 June 2018, Island School took two gold medals and a bronze.
Louis Ip 7W won the junior competition for students in Years 7-9. Smayan Soni and Prityush Jhaveri (both Year 9) won the pairs category. Chiara Postacchini 12E came third in the senior category.
Head of Foreign Languages Ian Hunter said, “There are many excellent Spanish language students at Island School and all those that competed should be very proud of themselves – they all gave excellent performances and the standard across the board was very high.”

In the group category Allie Kwong 7N, Eunis Law 7W, Jotaro Kobayashi 7W, Jamie Gunther 7W, Horace Leung 7R, Wilfred Fung 7R and Noriyasu Watanabe 7R.
In between the recitals West Island School’s music department played orchestral and jazz interpretations of classic Spanish hits, delighting the audience.
