Singing Sensation Hits The Right Keys!

Natascha Netz was crowned the winner of Island School’s annual talent show, Stars in Their Eyes, 22 Nov 2016. Her performance as Alicia Keys singing Girl on Fire won the popular vote from the audience of students, staff and families. Natascha was one of over 160 students who auditioned for a place in the live final.
Natascha, Year 8, said that she enjoyed the experience and aspires to be a singer when she grows-up. “It was a fantastic experience, the stage is my home,” she beamed.
The show’s compère Ms Hall commented that “the quality of performances were outstanding.” Approximately 200 students took part in the show this year, singing, playing in the orchestra and dancing. The choir, accompanied by the orchestra, sang famous hits such as Shut up and Dance and Can’t Take My Eyes off You.
Head of Music at Island School, Mr Travers said: “I have been amazed at the talent and commitment of the Island School students.” “I joined Island School in August 2016 so this was my first big show here – it’s been a great privilege to work with such a wonderful group of students.”
All the acts from the live final will be performing at the school’s 50th Anniversary Arts Festival on the 3 Dec 2016. Click here for more information
