Visiting Artist Helps Students Create Fabric Prints
Visiting artist Leanne Claxton worked with the Art and Design students in the senior school to produce their own fabric prints on 11th Dec.
Students learnt how to paint on paper using dyes and then transfer their pictures to fabric using a heat press. In a small group students had the opportunity to try out different styles of painting before they built up fabric designs in layers.
Claxton is a textile artist and designer, who trained in Paris under Christian Lacroix where she discovered haute couture and the relationship between art and fashion.
Since graduating, she has worked both in-house and as a freelance print designer for major brands in London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong and Spain.
