Working Well – Students on Placement
Building GPS systems and shadowing doctors were just some of the activities Year 11 students found themselves doing while on work placement last week. Having completed their iGCSE students in Year 11, seeking careers experience, were helped by the Higher Education and Careers department to find a work placement right for them.
Jimmy Choi (11E) who joined Suntech International Limited said, “I learnt many things including how to build a GPS along with the cautions to take whilst building one, how the GPS works, and the many uses of it.”
Xuen Chin (11F) who worked at the Glory Medical Clinic said she never expected to go on a field trip to North District Hospital and the experience of doing so was incredible as she got to observe the operating theatre and imaging areas.
Students became part of the workforce at: KPMG, Linklaters and Des Voeux Chambers, Colliers International, Asia Pacific Soccer Schools, Edge Design Institute, Suntech Limited, Coconut Matters, Glory Medical Clinic, the ISPTA and the sizeable food and beverage department at the HKFC, plus more.
A number of students are also completing their work placement over the summer break.
Rebecca Lucas-Timpany, Higher Educational Counsellor said, “Those who took up the challenge of doing a work placement found it very rewarding.”
“Our thanks go out to all the work places who have taken in students to offer work experience opportunities.”
