Student Wins Indigo Living’s Young Designer of the Year 2017
It is with great excitement that we can finally announce that Aurora Fenwick (13D) has been selected as Indigo Living “Young Designer of the Year 2017”.
In March 2016 the BTEC Art and Design students were set a real life design brief from Indigo Living. They were shown the concept boards for Spring /Summer 2017 and asked to create their own unique interpretations to present to members from Indigo’s Interior design team. The class pitched their work confidently and all received individual feedback on their product range. After much deliberation Tracy Fitzpatrick Indigo’s CEO announced that Aurora’s work had been selected. However, because of the confidentiality clause that had been signed we could not make a formal announcement earlier.
At the Indigo Launch for their Spring Summer 2017 range John McLennan the Founder and chairman for Indigo Living presented Aurora with a complete set of her embroidered cushions and congratulated her on her success.
Aurora’s original print designs were adapted for embroidery stitching and are now available to purchase in Indigo Living stores as part of the Caribbean Easy range
Aurora said: “I am so pleased to have been selected as student designer” and I feel proud to have my work in stores and available online.
BTEC Art and Design teacher Claire Tait said; “The partnership with Indigo Living came about because of a discussion with Tracy Fitzpatrick (CEO) about the importance of authentic design scenarios for the BTEC projects and Indigo’s interest in nurturing young talent.
It is hoped that with this success, it will be repeated in the future.
