Vice Principals Appointed
Belinda Greer and Robert Gibson have announced that Stephen Loggie has been appointed as Principal of Island School. He will work with me when he arrives in May, and after a smooth handover, take over at the start of the next academic year. I have already been communicating with him and I look forward to us working together for the latter part of the school year.
I would also like to announce the appointment of Kate Sommerville and Paul Bentham as Vice Principals. These are both internal candidates well known to many of you already.
Kate has been Senior Head of Wilberforce House and has led on a number of whole school initiatives. In particular Kate has been in charge of our transition and entry of students into Year 7, in which role she has worked closely with our partner primary schools.
Paul has been Head of the Humanities Faculty since he joined us and has worked on various school wide projects. Recently he has taken over the management of our relocation and rebuilding projects, working closely with the architects, the Education Bureau and the relevant District Council.
We had a very strong field of candidates from all round the world for these positions. It is a testament to the quality of our internal candidates that the final selection panel, which comprised of three school principals and our council chair, were unanimous that Paul and Kate are the right choice. We also felt that they provided an important continuity with the arrival of a new principal and the impending relocation.
I am confident the future of Island School is in good hands.
Yours sincerely,
Chris Binge
Principal
