Students Win Awards in Australian Consulate’s Christmas Card Competition

With funky emu, glowing skies and a cross cultural Christmas, three students have won awards in the Australian Consulate’s Christmas Card Competition 2016.

img_7880editSarrah Ebrahim was named the overall winner of the junior category with her painting of a funky emu. Her prize is a $1500 book token!  Her design will be used as the official Christmas greetings card for the Australian Consulate-General HK. img_7888edit

Rachel Handley got a merit award for her drawing of Santa Claus flying through a bright red sky above Hong Kong.

Grace Zheng got a selected entry award for her drawing mixing the landscape and themes of an Australian and Hong Kong Christmas.

Head of Visual Arts, Helen Palmer said: “Many congratulations to the winning entries. They responded to the criteria of the competition perfectly, and indeed ought to be very proud of their achievements”.

There will be a prize giving ceremony on the 13 December and The Australian Consulate will be exhibiting the work at the Fringe Club until 28 December 2016.
