At Island School our aim is to develop the talents of every student so as to help them find their passion in life.
Our Arts Department plays a pivotal role in this endeavour through enabling students to develop creativity, deepening their understanding of both themselves and the world they live in through artistic expression.
Research shows that a quality Arts curriculum that provides training and practise of creative skills, has a significant positive effect on the overall outcome of their schooling. Our Arts programme is led by our Arts Director Steve Coats and our world class arts faculty, who work in partnership with our amazingly talented students.
These dedicated teachers and their students collaborate to create personal and group works which enrich Island School life extraordinarily. This week our school conducted our annual “Stars in their Eyes” which showcased the phenomenal talents of singers, musicians, dancers, technicians and photographers to a packed audience.
The event involves the audience voting for their favourite act and our winners this year were Ethan Rajanayagam (11W) and Sophia Fournier (10W) performing ‘Shallow’ by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.
Congratulations to everyone involved in another tremendously successful event and an exceptional year of Arts Education.
