Gloria Leung Shines at Public Speaking Championship
Huge congratulations to Gloria Leung (12E) for winning the second place in the trial round of the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship (WIDPSC) on 18 January, 2020.
Gloria beat several previous Hong Kong team members and coming behind only a previous World Champion speaker with a remarkably high score. She will go to Shanghai with the Hong Kong team in April for the next rounds of competition.
“To be the first Island School representative in the Hong Kong team since 2014 makes me incredibly happy! Entering the trials has taught me a lot, allowing me to meet talented and bright speakers all around the city, and I can’t wait to be in Shanghai!” said Gloria.
WIDPSC is an annual international English language debating and public speaking tournament for individual high school-level students representing different countries. The Championship is represented by a diverse mix of high schools from countries as far reaching as Australia, the United States, England and South Africa, etc.
Along with Gloria, Sam Hui (10W) and Alexandra Lai (8W) also delivered their best performance in the competition, congratulations to all!
