Graduation 2018
At graduation 2018 students heard from commencement speaker Mr Neville Shroff about the importance of giving back, and how being able to think outside the box will sets individuals a part in interviews.
Mr Shroff is managing director at Shroff and Co Ltd a fabric and garment manufacturing company. He and his family are also ESF alumni. He explained that success means keeping thing simple and being able to adapt to change, and the critical skill that graduates today need is communication.
Karen Ng, accompanied by Charlie Wong sang ‘Our Last Summer’ by ABBA.
The head and deputy head students also addressed the audience offering words of inspiration and evidencing what it means to be an Islander.
The Island School Jazz Band played ‘It’s My Life‘ by Bon Jovi
Special Prizes were given to
Kiara Jim (13R) – Alumni Prize. This award is given to a student who has already made a vast contribution to promoting the reputation of Island School outside the campus.
Dylan Ngan (13F) – Jimmy Kim Memorial Prize. The Jimmy Kim award goes to a student who is expected to make their mark where ever they go. And succeed through a combination of winning characteristics.
Erika Makino (13F) Nan Robertson. This award goes to someone who has done great service to the school and is always prepared to put themselves forward to support any event or project.
Lauren McLean (13D), and Rahel Wijeyekoon (13F) D.J. James Awards
The David J James Awards go to two students who threw themselves into the life of the school and the House, are friendly respected, supportive and a positive influence on peers
Darius Tam (13D) Council Prize. This award goes to an academic high achiever. Who has committed him/herself to school life.
