Teams Take 2nd and 4th at International History Bee and Bowl
At the International History Bee and Bowl, Island School’s teams took second and fourth place and in the individual rounds four quizzers placed in the top ten.
Students answered questions on time periods from across different eras at the competition held at the Korean International School, on the 28 January 2018. Teams competed in 4 buzzer based rounds, where students’ reflexes and knowledge were put to the test.
The Junior Bowl Team beat Harrow International to the semi-finals taking fourth place. In the Varsity division, Island School came 2nd out of 45 teams, losing only to Renaissance in the finals.
In the individual Bee rounds, Priscilla Lee, Gabriel Chan, Job Tam and Adrian Tam all made it to the Top 10 students of their divisions.
“The IHBB was an amazing experience, one that I definitely look forward to competing in again” said Van An Trinh Year 11. “I’m glad I joined the team and we worked really well together. Sure, it was challenging at times, but it was also great fun and I hope to see more students joining again next year!”
Both teams have qualified to join the annual Asian Championships held in Thailand in mid-June, as well as the biennial 3rd International History Olympiad in Berlin on the 14th – 22nd of July.
