Island School has won the third Mind Over Matter Hong Kong Inter-School Quiz, held at German Swiss International School on Saturday 23 Sep 2017. Of the 5 Island School teams quizzed on subjects ranging from comics to history, the team of Zaheu Jacota, Justin Mak and Matthew Wright were the highest scoring, qualifying for the final.
Fellow quizzer Priscilla Lee said, “The audience was on the edge of their seats as it was neck-and-neck between the team and French International School (last year’s winners). After eight rounds of questions, the results showed a tie between the two teams, which required a tiebreaker question that Island School narrowly won!”
Audience member Charlene Chow said: “It was really entertaining to watch the finals because they included questions and prizes for the audience as well — we honestly felt included in the competition!”
Not only did the team receive a trophy certifying their achievements, each of the team members got wireless Skullcandy headphones and a prize for winning the sports section of the preliminary round. This is the second year Island School has won Mind Over Matter, coming second in 2016 and winning the inaugural competition in 2015.
