Island School 50th Anniversary Celebrations

The Island School 50th Anniversary Weekend saw Islanders past and present celebrate their association with a remarkable community! The partying started with the Block Party, on 9 June, at Island School followed by the Gala Evening at the Grand Hyatt on 10 June, with farewell brunches around HK on Sunday. More photos of all the events will be posted throughout the week.

Guests to the gala evening were welcomed by students who gave everyone a coloured House ribbon and a House coloured welcome cocktail! Student: jazz bands, Japanese drummers and soloists performed, before and during the luxury three course meal. Many gave moving speeches. The audience were so moved by former Principal David James’ speech that he was given a standing ovation. Long term teacher Chris Forse also spoke and played a short video looking at the history and the spirit of Island School.
