IS Hosts International Schools Theatre Association Weekend 24-27 Nov 2016

Dear Students and Parents,

Island School is hosting a middle school international drama festival – and we want you to be part of this very exciting weekend!  Together we will be a creative ensemble that feeds the imagination and inspires your own theatre practice! therTEXT

Dates
From 5pm, Thursday 24th November until 5 pm, Sunday November 27th Island School will host up to ten other international schools including three school groups from overseas.

What will the weekend look like?
Working in groups students will learn from international artists from the worlds of theatre, music and beyond.  On Friday we will explore Hong Kong’s traditional stories and the modern business in our ‘Out and About’ trip.  On Saturday students will work in ensemble workshops led by the visiting artists.  Then on Sunday we have a ‘Sharing’ of the work. A party on Saturday will give you a chance to cement your new friendships and chat about the creative experience whilst dancing and eating delicious food!  We anticipate that you will have one of the most creative and thrilling weekends of your life!  Have a look at the testimonials from other schools here – http://www.ista.co.uk.

Hosting
If you do take part in the weekend, please consider hosting a student from one of the international schools.  This means taking them to and from school over the weekend, feeding and entertaining them from Thursday (when they fly in) to Sunday night (when they return home).  They don’t need their own rooms – they can camp out on a mattress in your room – it’s all part of the experience!  This is one of the most important parts of the weekend where you have the opportunity to make a new friend and expand your horizons while teaching them about your life in Hong Kong and finding out about theirs.

What do you need to do now?
At this time we simply need to know if this is something you want to be a part of.  Parents should sign the attached form and drop it off or email Ms Welsh or Ms De Borja at sophie.welsh@online.island.edu.hk and jessica.deborja@online.island.edu.hk (both of whom have desks in the Backstage Drama office).  We have limited places and they will go to people on a first come, first served basis.  There will be more details to come once we have our final list and then we will be asking for confirmation and payment (between HK$2,000-3,000).

We look forward to seeing you there!
