Einstein Wins Inter-House Swimming Gala

Students from all Houses competed in Island School’s Inter-House Swimming Gala at Victoria Park Indoor Swimming Pool, 19 January.

Students participated in an array of events, ranging from 50m backstroke to the 4x50m freestyle relay. Student Eunice Poon, 11D, who won her 50 meters breaststroke event said: “I love breaststroke and I’m very happy about my result because I thought my time was going to be much slower. It was great seeing the swimming gala bring our swimmers together.”

Head of PE department Mr Pennel said: “The I.H. Swimming Gala this year was a great event.  With the changes to the points system and the team selection the competition was much closer which increased the audience involvement and improved the atmosphere.  The standard of swimming was excellent with many students improving their PB times. Victoria Park Swimming Pool is a wonderful venue and the electronic timing and quality of the pool really brings out the best in the students.”
