Art Technician

Responsibilities

To assist the Visual Arts department to operate efficiently and ensure that first line technical support is available at all times.

The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with both staff and students, work as part of a small team, have a willingness to learn, and able to work flexibly and on own initiative. Cantonese/Mandarin speaker with a good command of spoken/written English is essential.

Ideally candidates should have a genuine interest in the subject/knowledge in the subject area would be an advantage, health and safety issues, and the experience of working in an educational setting would also be an asset.

We are an expanding Department and training opportunities will be given to the right candidate to further develop their knowledge in the use of materials (e.g. ceramics) within the Department.

Duties
Liase with Subject Leader – Art

Preparation of Teaching Materials:
To ensure that all work materials are set up and prepared together with necessary resources at the beginning of the day.
Assist teaching staff/students in classrooms.
Organize art preparation/storerooms
Photocopying and laminating teacher resources
Help with the organization and mounting of exhibitions of students’work.

Maintenance of machines and tools:
Organization of materials/resources
Monitor materials and equipment, replenish and restock
Ensure that all resources used in lessons are cleared and stocked away in preparation for the next lesson.

Managing Stock:
Order and replenish stock
Check all orders are accounted for on arrival and signed off (in consultation with HOD)
Document and file away all orders and invoices

IT Skills:
Word processing and typing skills
Good understanding of databases

General:
To assist the department as required

Requirements:
The candidate needs to communicate with both staff and students, work as part of a small team, have a willingness to learn and help.
Cantonese/Mandarin speaker with a good command of spoken/written English.
Candidates should have an interest in the art subject, and the experience of working in a school would be an advantage.
Qualifications required: Form 5 or above

Applicants must possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
