Drone strikes, militarization of outer space and Syria were some of the topics debated by students at the Model United Nations conference in Shanghai, 19-23, Jan 2017. At the biggest MUN event in Asia 14 Island School students spoke on behalf of the UK, debating in a simulation of the UN chambers.
Student Olivia Bray said: “A variety of fascinating topics were discussed, including the legality of drone strikes, the potential militarization of outer space, the turbulent situations in Sudan and Syria, and cases in the International Court of Justice. It was an excellent trip with plenty of sightseeing and fun activities. The students would like to thank Mr Jay and Ms Hjelmeland for making this conference so memorable.”
